Getting ready for my NECN debut…and then…
About a week ago, I received an email from one of the producers at NECN, New England Cable News, asking me to appear on their show. The producer, John, sounded like a cool enough guy and offered me a prime 7:00pm spot with Sue O’Connell interviewing me. How can I resist?
Well, today’s the day and I wake up to see this little pimple on the tip of my nose. Will it grow or disappear before the show? Will it be adding to my trumpet and take away from my story or am I just being paranoid. Something to think about for today. Is it a sign? I figure it is for sure, but I also know from whom. Dad. He’s at it again. I swear he’s been following me closely since I started this journey writing My Father’s War almost 3 years ago now. I know he has and I can prove it.
I decided I wanted a separate credit card for all my book expenses. I decided to go big and got one of those fancy metal cards with a high limit and a yearly expense to be cool. When it came in…ready…drum roll…the expiration date and the random CID code are both my fathers birthday. May 19, yup, 519. Coincidence?
So as I prepare my talking points with Sue and knowing I’ll be in front of a very large audience, I can’t help but think of the Ole Man’s smirk as he zings me once again. In death, as in life, he still has one over on me and thinks nothing of letting me know he’s watching. Why my mother is still letting him get away with this is something I’ll have to take up with her in the future. I’m sure she’s just chuckling away too.
Oh yeah, before I forget, ignore what the TV schedule says for that time block, it’s not a weather show, it’s “The Take with Sue O’Connell” thanks again, Dad.
Maybe the show that’s aired live at 7:00, then replayed at 11:30 and overnight should be radio just this one time.
God Bless America
